SPECIAL SHOW FEATURES
One of the most rewarding aspects of Wings Over Houston Airshow is the “Special Show” for the lifetime physically challenged held on Friday before Airshow weekend. Our spectator base is approximately up to 5,000. The WOH Special Show is the largest field trip for physically challenged students in this area.
Designed especially for the lifetime disabled, this version of the Airshow enables them to see some of the aerial demonstrations and aerobatic acts comfortably. They enjoy a close-up view of the excitement while being treated as VIP’s by their caregivers and the many volunteers who donate their love and time to help make each person’s visit joyful. Parking for this show is close to the tents located at the taxiway, so that volunteers can load and unload wheelchairs and special equipment with ease. Attendance is limited to invited guests only, those for whom the Special Show was created.
SPONSORSHIPS
A very rewarding way to participate with the Special Show is for your company to become a Corporate Partner! We currently have available the Special Show Title Sposorship, and the Presenting Partner Sponsorship. You can find out more information about these sponsorship opportunities on our Sponsorship Opportunities page or by downloading the information and forms below:
DONATIONS
Donations of many kinds are needed to support and produce the Special Show, from donation of your time as a volunteer, to donations of souvenirs and snacks items for our guests, to donations of money to support the show.
Volunteering
The Special Show requires a large number of additional volunteers (about 250), many of whom are provided by corporate sponsors. Watching the faces of these special people as they enjoy the Airshow is an experience in itself. They are always totally involved with what’s going on, and those who are there to ensure they have a day to remember find themselves receiving more than they give. Along with the great feeling of helping someone less fortunate, our volunteers also receive a lunch after the guests are gone, commemorative lapel pin, and t-shirt along with a door prize item given away at the post event luncheon, all of which can be sponsored.
Souvenirs
Partners are needed to provide souvenirs, such as t-shirts, caps, banners, pins, gifts and any advertising novelties available. When these items go home with these special guests, they are treasured all year long. Such gifts are especially welcome and afford sponsors the opportunity of putting their name and logo where they will be seen and admired.
Snacks
On the Friday of the Special Show, it is difficult to provide food and beverages for our Special Show guests since regular Airshow concessions are not yet in operation on Friday. Partners who can provide canned drinks, bagged, boxed, or wrapped snacks or “goody bags” are appreciated. Again, sponsor identification on such items donated to the Special Show is encouraged.
Donations
Supplemental cash donations to defray expenses are always very welcome and make it possible for many “extras”, such as Special Person Badges, to be given to guests. Contact us through our Contact Us page for further information on how you can donate.
